I was the last to arrive at the Madden house for dinner. I walked through the open door and smiled at the noise.
With all the kids here, there was no way anyone would be able to hear themselves think, and judging from the excitement, they would all be sleeping well tonight.
âHey, you,â Serena said as I walked into the dining room. She wrapped her arms around me and kissed my neck.
âHey, Sugar. I have missed you.â I whispered, kissing her temple and inhaling her perfume.
I had barely seen her these past few weeks, my work-life balance was getting out of control.
âDinner is being served. Come sit down.â She said and tugged me towards the table. Ariana jumped into her seat and she kissed the little girl on the head as Connor perked up with a wicked grin.
âYou can always sit on my lap, Serena.â He purred and everyone at the table stopped what they were doing, eyes narrowed on Connor.
âWhat did you just say?â I asked, feeling instantly possessive as I wrapped my arm around her waist.
Serena looked at Elsie and they both grimaced before laughing. Dante stood, leaning over the table with a smile I had only seen before he killed someone.
âI will cut off your ding dong and shove it down your throat.â He snarled and Luca snorted at the same time Declan and Kingston sputtered.
âDing dong?â Caleb asked and Dante looked at him and then pointed at the kids.
âI can't go around saying the real words now, can I?â and Diego giggled at the same time Ariana rolled her eyes.
âTio. I am five. I know what I ding dong is.â She said primly which had more bouts of laughter around the table.
I could see the twitch in Danteâs eye as Connor grinned wickedly.
âStop. I know what you are doing, Connor and Dante were only joking.â Elsie said, her mom's voice catching his attention. He pouted at her and Serena glared at Dante.
âStop it.â She said.
âWhat am I missing?â I asked, my hand still locked firmly on her waist.
âDante made a proposition to Elsie and I promised I would get back at him. Doesnât feel so good to be on the receiving end, does it?â Connor goaded and I relaxed.
This was just another damn game between them. They were worse than Serena and Dante.
âFine. I take it back. You get a pass for that one but next timeâ¦â He stared pointedly and Connor chuckled.
âIâll make sure my ding dong is far away from you and your girl.â He said as Elsie slapped his arm.
âCan we eat? Iâm fuc⦠I mean⦠fudging starving.â Kenji said from his spot next to Fabian who sighed dramatically.
âItâs okay to swear when you are really upset,â Ariana said as she picked a green bean from her plate.
âMommy said so.â She continued and Alejandro grunted beneath his breath.
âShove over,â Serena said to Connor, pushing his shoulder as she pulled over another chair. I stared at her pointedly when she went to sit next to him and she sighed, taking the seat next to Ariana instead so I was next to Connor.
